The Hendersons

Shop Independent

Lauren and Robin are The Hendersons. Yes, they sound a bit like The Waltons and their style is not a world away. Think log cabins, pine forests and vintage looks - independent shopping at its very best, with quality products by small producers from across the globe that are made to last.

How it all began

The Hendersons started out with Lauren and Robin scouring auction houses, flea markets and makers markets to fill their little shop in Rochester. The range has outgrown the shop and they have put their unique range of Vintage Frontier Americana gifts online. Check out a few of my favourite picks below.

This is such a cute little Waltonesque (is that even a word, I think it is now) log cabin incense burner by Paines. Team this with Paine's Balsam Fir incense cones and you will be transported to the middle of a forest without having to pull on your Wellies. The cutest thing is the incense smoke billowing out the little chimney.

My absolute favourite bag of the moment is the Escape canvas utility bag . ForestBound are famed for their use of recycled and reclaimed materials - this bag is made from a heavy duty canvas, printed in their Massachusetts based studio. It has a water resistant fiberboard interior bottom panel - perfect to take wild swimming!

This tool organiser from Puebco is far too good looking for tools. It needs to be up front as a Desk or Kitchen organiser.  This Japanese brand takes recycled/reclaimed materials and hand makes them into industrial classics like this. The end product will have little imperfections from the original materials, making each item unique.

I love the simplicity and practical good looks of this suede log carrier. It gets the job of bringing in the logs done stylishly and minus the splinters stuck all over your clothes. If you are off camping this summer, it will instantly upgrade your campsite to a glampsite.

The final favourite product I want to share with you, is this Boot Jack candle by Lineage. It is 100% soya wax and hand poured into a reusable low ball glass. It’s made in small batches in Harrisonburg, Virginia.

And the scent? It is gorgeous. Its fresh with notes of  Lavender, seasoned Oak and Leather. So it’s a little bit manly but with feminine touches. Jon-boy would love it.
